(Sports Network) - With Utah on the brink dont expect top-seeded San Antonio to take its foot of the gas anytime soon.
Reggie Wayne Jersey. The Spurs are hoping to bury the memories of last seasons embarrassing first- round playoff loss and finish a sweep of the Jazz when the two teams meet in Game 4 of the Western Conference quarterfinals at EnergySolutions Arena. Watch the game live on TSN2 at 8pm et/5pm pt. Tony Parker poured in 16 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter on Saturday as San Antonio took a commanding 3-0 series lead with a 102-90 victory. Tim Duncan tallied 17 points and Danny Green 14 for the Spurs, who were also the No. 1 seed last season but lost to eighth place Memphis in the first round. Stephen Jackson had 13 points and Tiago Splitter returned from a sprained left wrist to score 10 for the Spurs. "I think we just try to limit everything they do well," Parker said. "We know theyre very good in transition. We know theyre going to crash the boards and go hard to the offensive boards. We try to make sure we control all the stuff that makes them good." Al Jefferson had 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Devin Harris also scored 21 for Utah. Derrick Favors added 15 points and 11 rebounds for his first career postseason double-double. "We just couldnt put it together to get over the hump against these guys," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. "They execute very well. We didnt get the energy or a sense of urgency when we had to." The Spurs have been especially dominant in the paint during this series. After outscoring the Jazz 58-44 inside during Game 1, San Antonio followed it up by outscoring Utah 62-36 in Game 2, matching a franchise playoff-high. Game 3 was more of the same with the Spurs holding a 50-28 scoring advantage in the paint. Another key has been San Antonios experience. Duncan, Parker and Manu Ginobili have now played 125 playoff games as teammates, the most among any active trio in the NBA. Meanwhile, Saturdays victory was the 111th career postseason one for Gregg Popovich, third all-time behind Phil Jackson (229) and Pat Riley (171). "They know that if they just stick with each other and the system that often times things are going to turn your way," Popovich, who was named NBA Coach of the Year last week, said of his star trio. "That experience they have gained over a long period of time and I guess they feel comfortable with each other when theyre in a tough environment like here in Utah." The Jazz are squarely behind the 8-ball now. No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit and Utah is 22-24 all-time in elimination games. "We know theyre going to come out. They have a lot of pride and theyre going to come out and its going to be a tough closeout game, especially here in Utah," Duncan said. "We expect that. Were going to play the game the exact same way that we have been." "We cant make mistakes," Jefferson countered. "Weve got play a perfect game to even have a chance to beat a team like this. We made too many mistakes during the crunch time of the game and they made us pay every time, so weve just got to stop making mistakes." These teams have met in the postseason four times previously with a John Stockton and Karl Malone-led Jazz group taking the first three series in 1994, 96 and 98 before the Spurs broke through in the West finals in 2007. Game 5 of the best-of-seven series, if necessary, will be Wednesday back in San Antonio.

Smith went 20-for-31 with 230 yards while Gore totaled 71 yards on 28 carries for the 49ers (7-8), who have won two of their last three. Gore was also the teams leading receiver with four catches for 81 yards while Vernon Davis caught a touchdown. "Im very thankful for the win and thankful that everything worked out the way we did," said San Francisco head coach Mike Singletary. "We started off slow offensively, but we got it together later in the game and were able to pull out the victory." Drew Stanton, making his first career start in place of an injured Matthew Stafford and an ineffective Daunte Culpepper, went 11-for-21 with 130 yards, three interceptions and a fumble for the Lions (2-13), who have dropped their past five games. Calvin Johnson had seven catches for 96 yards and added 32 rushing yards but also fumbled the ball twice. "Youre not going to win many games in the NFL when you turn the ball over as many times as we did today," said Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz. "Our defense was able to keep us in the game, but obviously we didnt do enough today to win the game. We had plenty of chances, but we didnt get it done today." Detroit started the game with the ball and kept it for almost eight minutes over a 15-play, 76-yard drive that was capped on a Jason Hanson 27-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead with 7:01 left in the first quarter. Each team then went three-and-out, and San Fran tied the game with a 33-yard field goal from Ricky Schmitt with 54 seconds left in the first. It was the first field goal attempt of his career and was set up on a 50-yard catch from Michael Crabtree. In the second, Stanton fumbled the ball when his arm was hit by Ahmad Brooks, and the 499ers recovered the ball at their own 47.
Ben Zobrist Jersey The Detroit defense stuffed Gore on a 4th-and-1 to get the ball back, but Johnson fumbled a reception near midfield. Another exchange of punts saw the Niners get the ball at their own 46, and the team took a 6-3 lead on a 39-yarder from Schmitt that just wobbled its way inside the right goalpost with 2:11 left in the first half. Stanton was picked off by Patrick Willis on Detroits ensuing drive, but Lions defense again held tough and limited San Francisco to a 28-yard field goal attempt by Schmitt. His first attempt sailed through, but Detroit had called timeout right before the snap. On the second attempt, Detroit blocked the kick and it was a three-point game at the break. After each team punted on its first drive of the second half, the 49ers went on a six-play march of 49 yards to get into the end zone. The drive was capped on a bootleg out to the right which Smith finished with a two-yard toss to Davis. The play was challenged by Detroit to determine if Smith went over the line- of-scrimmage, but the ruling on the field stood and San Francisco had a 13-3 lead with 7:17 left in the third. Detroit was stuffed on its next touch, and San Francisco took the ball 63 yards over seven plays on the next drive, finishing it with a one-yard run up the middle by Gore for a 20-3 lead with 1:08 to play. With Culpepper under center, Detroit put up a 38-yard field goal from Hanson with under four minutes to play to cap the scoring in the contest.
